Reviewing the Clean Campaign Pledge

Wallasey & Moreton

At the beginning of this election campaign, every candidate in Wallasey, New Brighton and Moreton West & Saughall Massie was asked to sign a cross-Party commitment to campaign in a way that enhances, rather than damages, the democratic process. No negative campaigns, no slurs, innuendos or dirty tricks.

So, four weeks later, how have they all performed? In a word, ‘mixed’…

Well done to those candidates who did sign:

  • Tony Pritchard (Local Conservative, New Brighton)
  • Jackie Usher (Liberal Democrat, New Brighton)
  • Ian Lewis (Local Conservative, Wallasey)
  • Tony Pritchard (Local Conservative, New Brighton)
  • Bill McGenity (Labour, Wallasey)
  • Adam Heatherington (UKIP, Wallasey)

All these candidates have met the standards contained in the Clean Campaign Pledge.

Sadly, as has been seen elsewhere, the two examples of where standards have not been met are:
