Wirral to receive extra £1.2 million to tackle homelessness

It has been announced today that Wirral is to receive £1.26 million from the Conservative Government, as part of a national programme for hostel bed spaces and facilities for the provision of healthcare, training or education to improve physical and mental health outcomes for rough sleepers through Homelessness Change.

Well done to everyone at Magenta Living and Wirral Ark involved in putting together the bid for cash.

Last week, Conservatives announced a new package of measures to help tackle homelessness, including increasing central government funding for homelessness programmes to £139 million – see here

Minister for Public Health Jane Ellison said:

We want to help homeless people get back on their feet, into safe accommodation and get the skills, and importantly, healthcare they need to get on in life. We also want to help prevent homelessness in younger people who are at risk.
