Lest We Forget.

This morning I was honoured to lay a wreath of poppies on behalf of Wirral Council at the newly located Cenotaph in Moreton in memory of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of their country in all the conflicts around the world.

It’s fair to say that moving the Cenotaph caused some controversy locally, however the turnout this morning of some 130/140 people, despite the damp and the cold wind demonstrated that this service is valued and well attended, and this year I think ŵe witnessed the biggest turnout ever.

The Service was taken as usual by the Branch Chaplain, 83 year old Barrie Redmore, so many thanks to him and to the Cadets who led the March and took the Standards.

Finally, now we no longer have a British Legion Clubhouse,  massive thanks go to Sue and Will Poston, and the staff of the Coach and Horses for providing warming drinks and a buffet after the service.
