As you may be aware, a planning application for a three storey complex of flats on the site of the Millhouse Pub was unanimously refused by Wirral’s Planning Committee. This followed our strong campaign, working with local residents.
The applicant, a company called Galliford Try, then appealed against the Council’s decision to refuse planning permission. This appeal will now be considered by the Planning Inspectorate, based in Bristol.
Following the 90 minute site visit by the Inspector last month, I have today learned that the appeal has been allowed and the development can go ahead.
As local Councillors it has been our privilege to support local residents in opposing this proposal. I am sure many of you will be disappointed with the Planning Inspectors decision; however it is a decision that we have to accept.
