Merseytravel – Putting the Customer First?

I was delighted when the controlling Labour Group on the Merseyside Integrated Transport Authority (Merseytravel) finally conceded to our groups suggestion to merge some committees and rationalise the unwieldy structure with over 30 committees and sub committees, with the new structure containing only eight committees and two necessary sub comittees, Urgency and Appointments and Appeals Sub.

We were also delighted that the Womens Forum and the Transport Access Panel merged with each of the five Advisory Panels, Liverpool, St. Helens, Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral to create Customer Forums to maintain the ethos of putting customers first.

Sadly whilst professing the customer comes first the Labour controlled ITA has moved from allowing each district to elect its own Chairman to imposing one on each forum – putting the customer first, hardly whilst dictating who does what, clearly a case of control freaks!
