Zeebrugge 93

This morning as a representative of Merseytravel I attended the Royal Marines Remembrance and 93rd anniversary of the raid on Zeebrugge.  The service commemorates the actions of Zeebrugge in 1918, and Walcheren in 1944 in the memory of the Royal Marines fallen comrades.
The weather was thankfully really good and following the wreath laying at the remembrance stone in the car park of the Seacombe Ferry Terminal we all boarded the ‘Royal Daffodil’ for the service which took place mid river on the Mersey.   The service was very poignant with wreaths being cast into the river in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
