This afternoon, along with my colleague, Cllr Steve Williams I was at the Skipton Building Society on Hoylake Road to help draw the tickets for the raffle that was being held to raise funds for Ariella Byrne appeal. The draw raised in excess of £120 for the appeal, which in total is trying to get together the huge sume of £60,000.00 to send Ariella to America for an operation.
Anyway I drew the first ticket and the winner was one of the Skipton’s customers, Tony. Cllr Steve Williams drew the second ticket and would you believe it he pulled his own ticket out! The third prize (and neither Steve or I pullled it out) went to the Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Jeff Green and finally the fourth prize went to Alan, another Skipton customer.
I would like to put on record my thanks to Paul, Claire and Denise and the Skipton Building Society and all the ‘backroom staff’ who helped with this, and I can tell you that Claire has other ideas for fundraising in the New Year, including bag packing at a local supermarket, both Steve and I have said we will be happy to do a stint of bag packing! Moreton may well have lost the local Halifax branch, but it has gained a new partner, and a great team in the Skipton who have put Local back into the Local Community!
