People may recall that Wirral Council had invested £2 million in an Icelandic Bank that went bust over 12 months ago. We were told that we would get OUR money back, but it appears to date we have only recovered 25% of it £500k. In a media statement issued today a Council Spokesperson said the council expected 70% to 80% of it’s original investment back, but was ‘optmistic’ it would get more. I’m sorry, but after recent events here, I think Wirral’s ‘Optimism’ is wearing a bit thin. So I hope that they can explain to the people of Wirral, when has a potential £600,000 shortfall on OUR investment been acceptable? TIME FOR CHANGE!
