I was saddened to hear that a friend, Heather Murray passed away on Tuesday, following a stroke some weeks ago. Heather was one of our three candidates in Leasowe & Moreton East in the all out elections of 2004. Heather lived in West Way, Moreton. I first met Heather when she became active with the Local Conservatives in Leasowe and Moreton East. Heather was a double amputee, having lost both her legs and was a wheelchair user. She was a very determined and focused individual and never let her disability get in her way, she had a tremendous sense of humour, which she used to great effect in getting people to help the party in many ways, such as delivering newsletters, stuffing envelopes etc. Heather was also one of many people who staffed our campaign HQ during the 2005 General Election campaign. I understand that her funeral will take place at Landican on Wednesday 30 December. I send my condolences to her family, Ken and Emma and her many friends.
