Jack Spriggs RIP

It was with great sadness that I learned today of the death of  Merseytravel colleague, and veteran Liverpool City Labour Councillor, Jack Spriggs, who has sadly died quite suddenly from pneumonia.

I have only known Jack for three years, since my appointment to the Merseyside Integrated Transport Authority (MITA),  and I can honestly say it has been a privilege to have known him and to work with him, both on the Authority and as a colleague on the Mersey Ferries Board.  I was with him only last Thursday at a Ferries Board and he was in good form speaking passionately on an item that concerned him, I truly did not expect that day to be the last time I saw him.

We may not always have seen eye to eye on some subjects, only to be expected because of our political differences, however Jack was a true gentleman whom I respected immensely, and he will be missed by many people.   He and I spent many a half hour between meetings chatting, he always had tales to tell and a great sense of humour, I will miss those chats.   My thoughts at this very sad time are with his family.    Rest in Peace Jack.
