Readers of the blog, residents of Moreton and the wider community are waiting patiently to find out if MEAS, include, or discount the North Wirral Brickworks in Carr Lane, Moreton and the site in Prenton from their long-term plans for landfill.
The long awaited preferred options report, which will tell us one way or another, was originally scheduled to be published in June this year, that was delayed for a variety of reasons and we were then told September, then Autumn, and now in an email response the Director, Dr Alan Jemmett tells me that he does not have a date. You can read that email below.
In the meantime whilst local residents, and particularly those who live close to the site have to endure a longer wait, the message to Dr Jemmett and his team remains the same, both Moreton and Prenton are not suitable in any way, shape or form for landfill!
Dear Councillor Blakeley,
Many thanks for your email. I am not able to give you a definitive answer about when the Preferred Options report will be available for public consultation as we are still continuing with our technical assessments and drafting of the report.
As part of this process it has been agreed by the project Steering Group and sponsoring Local Authorities that additional time should be dedicated to this work. Due to these tasks the Preferred Options public consultation will be delayed.
As soon as I have revised dates for the Preferred Options public consultation I will contact you personally. Prior to public consultation later this year, the Waste DPD Preferred Options Report will be subject to approvals by all six districts in Merseyside and Halton.
With best regards,
Dr Alan Jemmett
