Town Meadow Station – Yes or No?

For the last 20 years, the suggestion of a new station between Moreton and Meols has been on and off the agenda of the Council and Merseytravel.  Both sides blamed each other at various points and both claimed a lack of money.

For the last 18 months, I have been discussing with the Council and Merseytravel the need for them to look again at this issue and for them to consult with people who live here on what, if anything, should happen once and for all.

The original plan, before most of this area was developed, would have seen a new footbridge over the Arrowe Brook and the new station (provisionally called ‘Town Meadow Station’) located near what is now the top of Millhouse Lane.

However, as the area is now mainly residential, the Council and Merseytravel need to decide, after consultation, whether a station is still viable.  The land for such a station has, at my insistence, been protected and is available for such a development.

In the meantime, I would really like to know your views on this issue.   You can post your comments on this site, or email me by clicking here

  1. Chris, I fully support your initiative in trying to move this issue forward. This station is definitely needed, and would help the loca community tremendously.
