Council Update
Earlier this evening I attended an extraordinary Council Meeting. It seems Council had to agree to some measures in order to ensure the Council met its legal requirements. These were all dealt with quite quickly
There was another item on the agenda proposed by the controlling Labour group to appoint the the Chief Executive to a permanent contract (He is currently 4 months into a two year fixed term contract). After a short debate a vote was taken and it was clear that this proposal did not have all party support with 26 Council Members out of 62 voting against making the Chief Executives position permanent. Despite this clear lack of support, Labour, with its majority forced this through the Council. What happened to working with all the parties to improve the Council?
