Today has been one of those days going from one thing to another, but has been both enjoyable and sucessful. After spending some time in work this morning dealing with constituency matters, I went off to Bebington Rail Station as a Merseytrave l representative to take part in the event, recognising that the station car park has been given secure accreditation. This means that all 66 Merseyrails Stations and its 36 car parks all have accreditation and makes it the most secure network in the Country. This accreditation will be welcomed by the many thousands of passengers who use the network which is now the safest and the best in the country.
After that I attended Wirral’s Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP). Many issues were discussed, however I was particularly interested in the report about funding for an ISVA in Wirral. I have been working with Jo Wood, who works for Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre to try to get some funding for this much needed service. The request was turned down a couple of months ago by the CDRP, however having pointed out lots of flaws in the report the matter has now been referred for further investigation. The amazing thing is that the CDRP has £130,000 in reserves and RASA has only bid for £40,000! Tonight its door knocking followed by the Wallasey Executive Council. Just another 15 hour day!
