I have reproduced below the latest update from the Council regarding the disruption to wheelie bin collection because of the adverse weather conditions. It seems that is going to take up to next Wednesday to clear the backlog. The message is: If the wheelie bin is not collected by 6pm today, then it needs to [...]

Seems the icy weather has caused disruption to the schedule of wheelie bin collections, with many of todays collections missed, which will impact on tomorrows collections. If your bin is due for collection today or tomorrow, and it is not collected by 6pm tomorrow (Christmas Eve) then it needs to be put out again before 7am [...]

This morning, while over at Merseytravel I heard about the serious accident, in treacherous icy conditions on Millhouse Lane, where I understand a bus collided with a house extension causing major damage. Thankfully there was no one injured. I also believe one of the two fire appliances collided with each other pushing one into the bus? On [...]

I have just seen a copy of the preferred options report and I can confirm that it is great news, neither the North Wirral Brickworks site in Carr Lane or the Prenton sites have been included as potential landfill sites. See previous posting. A victory for common sense.

I have heard that MEAS have now published their draft preferred options report which goes to the six local authorities for approval. We were told this would be in 2010. I have unconfirmed information that the report discounts the North Wirral Brickworks site, in Carr Lane, Moreton, and the site in Prenton as future landfill sites in [...]

Tonight at full Council, Steve Foulkes and his cronies voted through new Governance arrangements for the Council, to come into effect in May next year. I asked the Head of Law to explain to Council the Public Notice that appeared in the Wirral Globe last Wednesday, which to all intents and purposes pre-determined the Council’s decision. [...]

At lunchtime today I gathered with about 300 others, including the Family, Friends, MP’s, Civic Heads, Chief Execs, Political Party Leaders, representatives of the police, Liverpool football club and many others to pay my final respects to a giant of Liverpool, former Lord Mayor, Cllr Jack Spriggs. I knew Jack through my time on Merseytravel, and [...]

Readers of the blog will be aware of me questioning the wording of a Council press statement regarding the new governance proposals. Read more by clicking HERE The Council’s Head of Law apologised to me, saying the wording was wrong and an amended statement was released. You will understand then, my total disgust at reading a public [...]
