Just when residents who live close to the Moreton Brickworks site in Lingham Lane thought that peace had prevailed, along comes the Site Operator asking Wirral’s Planning committee for an extension on his time for exporting material from the site. The Operator was originally only given permission to screen crush and export material until March 2008, however he submitted another planning application seeking an extension, thankfully that was refused. The operator appealed that decision and whilst the appeal was going on continued to use the site for crushing and screening. The Planning Inspector said, enough is enough and refused the appeal, following that the Operator entered into an agreement with the Council to cease operations on the 30th September this year and restore the site by end of March 2010. Knowing that, why has the operator now come back for an extension to export crushed brick off site? I will be asking the Planning Committee to say NO!
