Earlier this evening, along with colleagues, Cllr Simon Mountney, Steve Williams, Cllr Ian Lewis, and Leah Fraser , I attended the ‘Grand Switch On’ of the Moreton Christmas lights.   The lights were switched on by the Mayor of Wirral, Cllr Andrew Hodson, who played a full part in the proceedings when also drawing the raffle.   Sadly I won nothing!

This was, sadly,  Beryl Jones last year as Chairperson of the Moreton Community Lights Association.   Beryl and her team have done a tremendous job over the last five years in first bringing Christmas lights back to Moreton, and then year on year raising the funds and organising the erection of the lights and the switch on.

Before the lights were switched, on the crowd was entertained in the Coach and Horses, (courtesy of Ben who manages the pub), by Bob and his fantastic Disco, and some real Christmas rocking songs by local group ‘Insanity Beach’.

I would like to place on record my thanks to everyone who played a part in another successful year for the lights in Moreton, with very special thanks to Beryl.    Thanks also to all the Moreton traders for contributing towards the lights, either financially or by donating a raffle prize.
