Tonigh at full Council, former (yes former) Labour Councillor Denis Knowles told Labour leader Steve Foulkes and his ever diminishing group what many of us already knew. His statement tonight was everything that many of us have wanted to say, and have said to Steve Foulkes for months. New Labour was wrong on the closure of libraries and leisure centres and their behaviour has been arrogant and dictatorial.
Denis, a former senior aide to Wallasey MP Angela Eagle, who is clearly the biggest loser in all this, has sent a huge message to New Labour nationally, that message says your finished. Not only does Angela have the blow of losing a hard-working and effective councillor in Seacombe but it also means the Conservatives are represented in all six wards, compared to her two.
Denis is the first of three Conservative Councillors in the former rock solid Labour ward of Seacombe. Roll on 2010
