A couple of weeks ago I reported on just how long people were having to wait for operators to answer their calls at the Council’s Call Centre 606 2004. Some people were, and unfortunately still are waiting up to 15 minutes! That is totally unacceptable. This week I have called the centre on three occasions and the quickest I have been answered is just over four minutes and the longest over seven minutes. You can be assured that I have made Council Officers, and the Lib Dem Cabinet Member aware of my disgust at this appalling abysmal level of service.
The reason for the delays are not the Council employees fault, it is solely the fault of the Labour/Lib Dem coalition, who shamelessly last year cut staffing costs by £80,000 with the resultant reduction in jobs, this, despite our protestations.
Anyway the good news is that Council Officers, it appears, have finally listened to us, and are taking a report to the Council at the end of the month, if approved more staff will be employed to answer the telephones, along with improvements to technology, which hopefully will reduce waiting times to an acceptable level. If it doesn’t, be assured I will be on their case again!
