Finally, after six months and a fair bit of pestering from me and others the Council has now confirmed that it will carry out much needed works to the approach road to the Common and at the same time put in dropped kerbs and level access points to assist the elderly, infirm and disabled gain access to the Common. Below is the confirmation email I have received from Roger Calvert.
Dear Councillor Blakeley
Tenders for the majority of the work to be undertaken have been received and the successful contractor has programmed the work to be undertaken next week when the access road will be closed for approximately two days while the resurfacing of the roadway is undertaken. The work also includes putting in dropped kerbs for disabled access, surfacing and widening the access points on to the common and marking out carparking spaces for the disabled and necessary cross hatching.
Regards
Roger Calvert
