Readers of the blog will be aware that in January this year the Council confirmed that it would NOT re-open the Common to vehicles, this despite a petition of over 1,000 signatures. However it did promise that it would improve access for the disabled, elderly and infirm. So whats the Council done to improve access for the disabled since it gave that committment in January? Yes you guessed, it absolutely nothing!
I have sent an email to the Director, and to the Head of Parks and Open Spaces, asking them why? and more importantly when will they honour that committment as can be evidenced from the minutes of the meeting which can be read by clicking here. Hi Chris,1st congratulations on your re-election for Saughall/Moreton well done. At last some thing has been done @ the common ! Work will be started next week on the resurficing of the main car park. Also dropped kerbs & access points will be put in for ease of entry for the disabled people, about time too. Also there will be disabled parking spaces clearly marked out, so these unfortunate people can park next to the common for easy access.Getting somewhere at last Chris, just the 10ft grass too cut now ! keep it going Chris, regards George Thorpe.
