At the Cabinet meeting last Thursday, it was decided to try out a new ‘Community Road Safety Iniative. This followed a Conservative plan for ’20s Plenty’, which was backed earlier this year.
However, the Cabinet in their wisdom have selected six areas around Wirral – none of which are in Moreton, Lingham, Saughall Massie or even in the whole of the Wallasey Constituency. This is in spite of the number of accidents which occur on our roads.
Now, along with my colleagues, Cllr Suzanne Moseley and Cllr Simon Mountney I have ‘Called In’ the Cabinet decision.
This means that a report will go to a special meeting of the Streetscene and Transport Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee on the 7th January. That meeting is open to the public and I would urge anyone who is concerned about traffic speeds and road safety to attend.
